By the mercy of Srila Prabhupada and my spiritual masters, I went for my weekly religious class at Taiping prison. The class was for Block B death sentenced inmates. During the class, one of the inmates told me that Kripa Murthi Krishna Das, a disciple of HH Jayapataka Swami had received an appointment with court to have his sentence reviewed. Only 2 weeks ago I received a phone call from Kripa Muthi who is in Seberang Perai(Jawi) prison informing me of the good news.” Prabhu…If the judge gives me 40 years sentence, I have to spend only a year and will be free then. But if the judge gives me 30 years, I will be out immediately, minus all my staying in prison and public holidays.” said Kripa Murthi prabhu enthusiastically. He further said,” Prabhu..there’s one lawyer who you need to call whose taking my appeal.” Kripa Murthi prabhu gave me the lawyer’s telephone no.
Later I called the lawyer and spoke to him. He’s from Penang and told me that his parents are from Taiping. “ Sir….I could not believe that I’m taking Kripa Murthi’s case because 25 years ago while doing my law, I studied Kripa Murthi’s case and now I’m taking his case.” said the lawyer. And he further continued,” Actually I could not believe his transformation. He seems very knowledgable and fully repented. I’m sure he will be an aset to the indian community if he’s out.” ” Sir..can you please write a recommedation letter which I can use for my appeal later.” said the lawyer.
Kripa Murthi prabhu was sentenced to death in 1999 and seriously took up Krishna Consciousness while in Taiping prison and he was pardoned by the Sultan of Perak in 2014 and his capital punishment was downgraded to life imprisonment. Few years earlier he was initiated by HH Jayapataka Swami. Once I met HG Maha Varaha prabhu, Maharaj’s secretary in Mayapur, India who told me that HH Jayapataka Swami who was on bed, raised both his hands and pleaded to Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Pancha Tattva, Narasimha Dev and Srila Prabhupada to bless Kripa Murthi prabhu on Janmastami 2014. Miracally Kripa Murthi received his pardon on Srila Prabhupada’s Vyasapuja, the very next day. Few days after Kripa Murthi prabhu was pardoned, while coming out of the prison after my class, I met one Punjabi officer who told me,” Krishna Das(Kripa Murthi) is 99.9999% confirmed to be hanged, but only his God helped him.” The mercy of HDG Srila Prabhupada and his spiritual master, HH Jayapataka swami surely helped him to escape the gallow previously and I believe his spiritual master will shower his unceasing mercy again.
